“The Lowdown” S2 - crew doodles
Ever since I first started crewing on films, I’ve produced little drawings while on-set; of the crew, the equipment, the work itself. I was thrust into film back in 2019, and, with no frame of reference, illustrated what I saw around me as a means of processing this new world - now, I do it during downtime to stay sharp all day (film, in its militaristic pacing, has a whole lot of “hurry up and wait”).
The illustration of Charles Elmore (B-Cam Operator) on the dolly is my favorite - he had this elegant posture on the equipment, surveying a shot on B-Camera’s on-board monitor, and, right as I finished drawing his gaze, a firefly appeared above him (as represented by the twinkle!)
